Praise

Praise

As the details behind History on the Road's innovative format have been held in check, there hasn’t been much of a chance for others to cover them with praise. Exceptions include P.J. O’Rourke, who, among his many accomplishments, has been cited as the most quoted living person in The Penguin Dictionary of Modern Humorous Quotations. When informed of the idea behind the series, he pronounced it a great one with characteristically winning sincerity.  There's far more to the man than just humor.

It's great, was also Ron Reagan's assessment of History on the Road's format.

It's a mark of genius, said advertising creative director Hardy Keller of the program, when an idea is somehow both obvious and innovative at the same time. We welcomed Mr. Keller’s take on History on the Road for its having the same virtue.

Early on, it was gratifying to hear from noted Civil War historian Francis A. Lord, who hit the caps key to say that he thought our idea EXCELLENT.

Seth Lipsky, editor-in-chief of the New York Sun, called it great stuff crusty newsman fashion.

Then there are the words of award-winning California film producer who, upon reading the initial pitch for the project, fairly gushed THIS IS FABULOUS!  WOW.  I'd watch it! Then, after reading the treatment's "Bonnie & Clyde" episode:  This is going to be a great series. Tone and POV are spot on -- smart, incisive and witty.

"Thank you for sending me Alan Wellikoff's proposal, which I thoroughly enjoyed." This expressed in a letter to Mr. Wellikoff's literary agent from Susan Schulman of New York's Susan Schulman Agency. "I'm a lover of history and so this proposed series is one I would watch. And that P.J. O'Rourke is involved makes the entire project viable as good entertainment as well as good information, a winning combination. I have no doubt that this proposal will sell to an experienced producer who has a deal with one of the distributers. All the information is included in the website ... Alan Wellikoff has all the credentials he needs to walk into any funder and pitch this show."

And, finally, after PBS-affiliate Maryland Public Television's statement that they feel strongly that (History on the Road) will be popular with the public on a national scale, our next favorite critique came from the NewsUSA media critic when he said History on the Road  stands to make some history of its own.
